Probing the efficiency of thermal and photochemical bond homolysis in functionalized nanostructured SBA-15 silicas

The formation of radical species in solution can be triggered through thermal or photochemical activation a suitable precursor. This EPR study aimed to establish if these two modes were as effective mesoporous silicas solution. First, calibration system was devised and validated reliably quantify the formation. Alkoxyamines selected generate stable nitroxyl radicals upon heating irradiation. Thanks direct synthesis by sol-gel process, precursors selectively located on pore surface framework silicas. photo-chemical functionalized materials showed that nitroxides formed yields comparable those observed No significant differences with implementation between Moreover, experiments enabled measure C–O bond dissociation constants alkoxyamines covalently anchored nanostructured silica, their values same order magnitude than determined
